[edit] Water Polo
Hi KaroshiHD,
I am trying to start a WaterSports Wikiproject. I got this idea when I noticed that the Phelps page did not have a picture, even when it was a featured article on the main page, and when he broke the world record. Swimming/WaterSports needs a hub of workers to help with swimming related articles. The project would include long and short course, along with water ballet, syncro, diving, water polo, open water and the players of those sports. It might be given the name WaterSport(s). Its all up for discussion. If you are interested in helping out, please add your name to this list and add any comments you might have. See you around the pool, --wpktsfs 03:31, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:MikMod screenshot.png
| This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:MikMod screenshot.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:29, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Templates
Hello. First, thanks for your contributions; you're doing some nice work. There are a couple of things I've noticed with your templates that could be improved, however. When you created a new version of Template:Cosmology at Template:Physical cosmology, and then set the old template to redirect to it, you hid the history of the template. Where possible, please put the replacement template at the same location as the old one, or move the old one to the new name, then put the new code in place. (If you're worried about making a mistake on the new template and messing up the articles it's used on, then use a sandbox.) If you do that, then not only do you keep the history of the page, but you make it easier for those of us that are watching the template to see the latest changes to it (i.e. those during and after the replacement). I've requested a history merge on Template:Physical cosmology to fix this (which means an admin will come along and merge the histories of the templates at some point).
Also, please make sure that you don't add extra whitespace (new lines) into the template, as that also appears on the articles if it's not in a noinclude tag. See [1] for an example of what I mean; your version had two extra lines at the bottom of the article, which were appearing in the articles the template was used on, whereas the problem is now fixed.
Finally, please categorize the templates you make. There's a whole load of template categories under Category:Wikipedia templates; the two you're most likely to be interested in are Category:Physics templates and Category:Astronomical templates (and their subcategories). Categorizing the templates makes it a lot easier for other people to find (and then use) them.
Thanks. Mike Peel 09:32, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Mike, Thank you for fixing the template stuff ! I wasn't aware of that a redirect will damaged the whole history. I realized that my templates add some whitespaces to the article, though this was my very first time I used conditional templates, so unfortunately I wasn't able to resolve this problem. So thanks ! And you're right, next time I will use sandboxes for that.
- Maybe you could help me with 2 other problems. I realized that the space betweens linebreaks is much bigger than in the version without a template. Do you know where the problem is ?? The other is, I tried to categorized the template direct in Template:PyhsicsNavigation but it didn't work, I searched for something like <includeonce>Category:Physics_navigation_templates <includeonce> but didn't found anything. Is it possible to use a conditional template or something similar for doing this job ? As it will be easier to have the category stuff direct in the PyhsicsNavigation template instead of writing it separately for every new template ?? Thanks again !
- Best Regards, Sheliak

- Hello again. I'm not too sure what you mean by your first problem; can you provide an example? With the second, I don't think that includeonce exists. You're probably best off just categorizing each template seperately, putting the category within noinclude statements (e.g. <noinclude>[[Category:Physics navigation templates]]</noinclude>; note that within a wikilink, underscores (_) are the same as spaces, so it's generally neater just to use spaces).
- By the way, you may be interested in using Template:Navbox generic, which does something very similar to your PhysicsNavigation template.

- Hi Mike,
- please see GR history for the old version and the new version GR new which uses the PhysicsNavigation template. The line spacing grows by about 0.5mm on my computer,so that the whole template looks a bit ugly. I would prefer to shrink the line spacing even a bit more than in the previous version. Any ideas ?

- That one's left me a bit puzzled. I think it is to do with the new line breaks at the start of each link section that were in the old template, but not in the new - the parser treats those as new paragraphs, and hence the paragraph style gets applied to them. It's probably not something worth worrying about, though - the template works (and looks) fine either way. Mike Peel 08:43, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:SNES Plok ScreenShot 1.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:SNES Plok ScreenShot 1.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:49, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Journal of Computational Physics
Hi there -- thanks for starting the article Journal of Computational Physics. If you plan to start other physics journal articles, you might like to note that those with no text content apart from the infobox have tended to fare badly in the deletion process in the past for some reason. I've duplicated some information into the text and added a note on the impact factor, which should help prevent the article being deleted. You might like to check out the recently created WikiProject Academic journals if you're interested in this area. Regards, Espresso Addict 22:52, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:EnBW Logo.svg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:EnBW Logo.svg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.
