[edit] When did Shepshed become a town?

I've been trying to find this out for ages. Sources abound to the effect that Shepshed was a village "until recently", but I haven't been able to find anything remotely resembling a date when it acquired town status. Is anyone out there who can enlighten? -- Smjg 16:59, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

No but being a resident I can attest to the fact it is referered to as a town by the Charnwood Borough Council - (this being one such example -http://www.charnwood.gov.uk/uploads/charnwoodlspforumevent-summaryof.pdf) It also has a town council. The cricket team is called Shepshed Town. It is also referred to here http://www.leicestershirevillages.com/shepshed/18365.html. But nowhere are there any details of the date of town charter. I will make further enquiries. Roterbaron 23:49, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Roterbaron

[edit] Work needed

There needs to be some format fixing, in regards to twin towns, and sports, etc. Anyone that has some spare time, feel free to give it a go. - Deathrocker 23:05, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
