[edit] Premises

The school moved from its Penny Hill Road site in 2001. The premises are being subject to a $41.5 million renovation to turn it into a school for fifth- and sixth-graders. During the work there was controversy when confidential personnel data were found strewn about the site in September 2007.[3]

The school now shares the same campus with Shelton High School, surrounded by a wooded landscape.

[edit] Awards and recognition

For the 1988-89 school year, Shelton Intermediate School was awarded the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education[4], the highest award an American school can receive.[5][6]

[edit] Student achievements

Three students won first place in WTIC-TV's annual student news competition, in May 2008, for a television feature film.[7]

[edit] Athletics

Shelton Intermediate School offers a variety of athletic programs such as football, baseball, boys' volleyball, swimming, ice hockey, girls and boys indoor and outdoor track and field programs.
