[edit] History of Shelter to Home Inc.
Shelter to Home Inc. began on a grass-roots level in 2005 [1]. A team of local animal lovers formed to increase adoptions at the local city animal control pounds in Downriver, Michigan by networking with other local animal rescue organizations bringing animals into their foster care network until permanent homes could be found.[2]
[edit] Present programs
Annually, Shelter to Home Inc. finds homes for approximately 350 animals, mostly cats, by partnering with petfinder.org, along with local Petco and Petsmart stores which house a portion of their adoptable animals.[3]
The organization receives no government or state funding, and relies upon generous donations from the public sector to rescue and care for animals in need.
Shelter to Home Inc. is the proud recipient of the 2007 Sue Bundrick Memorial Foundation award [4].
