Sheldon Warren Cheney

Sheldon Warren Cheney (1886-1980) was an American author, born at Berkeley, California, who founded the Theatre Arts Magazine in 1916 and edited it until 1921. Sheldon Cheney believed that William Shakespeare was primarily an editor and that this thus accounted for the large body of work attributed to him. No sooner had Cheney reached this conclusion then he started to backtrack without really repudiating what he had already written. Among other books, he wrote:
