She ran for U.S. Senate as an independent in Oklahoma in 2004, winning 5.99 percent (86,663 votes) of the vote in a three-way race against Tom Coburn (R) and Brad Carson (D). [3]

In 1986, Bilyeu was a candidate in the Democratic primary for Texas Governor against incumbent Mark White. She won 4 percent of the vote.[citation needed]

Bilyeu has filed numerous lawsuits against the federal government -- all dismissed by the courts -- in which she demanded the removal of a radio-like device that the military allegedly planted in her head in the 1970s. [4]
