[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Alt.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Alt.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:30, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Splatter Phoenix and Darkwing Duck articles

If you want my opinion, I'd suggest doing wikipedia articles on Splatter Phoenix's episodes in Darkwing Duck, rather than just an article on her. Darkwing Duck is a significantly notable cartoon, and I doubt anyone would have a problem with those articles. McJeff (talk) 21:50, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Boxshot uk large.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Boxshot uk large.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

It's ok, you may delete the image now. Shadiac (talk) 03:23, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Russian political jokes

I understand that while you have an old account, you are not frequent editor (unless you have several accounts). Please understand that wikipedia policies summarized in wikipedia:Verifiability are the most fundamental ones and cannot be ovverriden by any other considerations. While we are giving some leeaway for older articles written long time ago when rules were not so strict, following the policies when adding new content is a must. You are mistaken that this bind of content cannot be verified. Please look at the bottom of the page. There are several books devoted to scholar analysis of Russian jokes.

Please also keep in mind that wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a collection of various information, see "what wikipedia is not". In particular, in many articles about humor, the comment "wikipedia is not a jokebook" is written. This means that jokes, as any content of wikipedia (biographies, companies, bands, etc.), must have a certain threshold of notability to be included, i.e., the joke must be discussed in some publication for its merits, not just published or quoted. Mukadderat (talk) 15:56, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

In either case, I do not see any difference between the content judged inappropriate being already on the page and me adding the same kind of content. From what appears to me, you just keep blindly reverting back my every edit without paying any attention to it, although I am willing to spend time in order to rewrite this article in the following weeks, by sourcing it and deleting political jokes that have little explanation whatsoever.
Moreover, I feel that my content explains way better why Russian political jokes are so widespread today and what happened to them in the course of USSR history. If you don't agree with what I've written, why don't you just write it yourself in the place instead of reverting the page back to what it was with a lot less explanations and a lot more stupid jokes.
Please bear in mind that I would not tolerate this kind of behavior toward myself and I will enter the editing war with you if you won't listen to my suggestions. You may call it inappropriate, but I will protect the article and contact an administrator to mediate our dispute as I believe I have full rights over the paragraphes I've added to it and I want them to appear in the article.
Thank you, Shadiac (talk) 17:55, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Obviously, you are not listening to me. Please read the policies WP:CITE, WP:NOR and explain what exactly is not clear for you there. We cannot write some text out of your head in wikipedia. The fact that it was done in the past when the rules were not so strict is not an excuse to continue writing in the same style. You are very welcome to add as much content as you want while following wikipedia rules. You write "my explanations are better". the whole point of wikipedia policies is that your explanations have no place in wikipedia. Only explanations cited from reliable sources are allowable. If yoo don't believe me, please ask any of admins you arre threathening me with. Mukadderat (talk) 19:43, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Colleaugue, an I understand, you feel extremely offended and hence overreacting. Your work is not destroyed or lost forever. It is in the article history. You may copy it into your private page, e.g., User:Shadiac/Russian jokes and continue/finish your work by supplying necessary references. Mukadderat (talk) 15:57, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Also, from your phrase in my talk page "Unsourced - source" I understand that you still refuse to read carefully wikipedia policies about citing sources. In wikipedia it is your obligation to source your text, not mine. Once again, please, read the most basic policy about wikipedia content. If you disagree with it, feel free to suggest its changes. Mukadderat (talk) 15:57, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
"template or something". There is no such and and cannot be. A deleted text is deleted is deleted. I have already explained above what you can do: to create a temporary working page. This is a standard approach in wikipedia. In addition, you may invite other people to help you, by posting a request in the article talk page. You may also try to arrange a collaboration in the Portal:Russia/Russia-related Wikipedia notice board. I did this a couple of times; with a limited success, though. Mukadderat (talk) 16:14, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Merging is not good idea for a number of reasons. First, the topics are clearly separable, and may well sit in separate pages. There is a popular say here: Wikipedia is not paper, and the ways of arranging material is quite different than in books. Second, Big articles take long time to load, so there is a common custom in wikipedia to split large articles into smaller than vice versa. As for who is more sourceable, I have reasons to think that political jokes must be very more sourceable in English language: Cold War, you know, and interest in anti-Sovietism was much higher in the West than in jokes about Russian students or Lieutenant Rzhevsky. Erm... or not. Mukadderat (talk) 15:35, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
