From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Joke Mechanics is the methodology of guaranteeing a joke to be funny. It is a working set of guidelines under construction by Michael Jozwiak and Eric Deng.
[edit] The Concept
Joke Mechanics is a way for anyone, regardless of talent, to contribute a funny joke or comment to a situation. In Joke Mechanics, both common and uncommon approaches to different situations are analyzed, to give a framework for a surefire funny joke. These guidelines will be posted upon their adoption by the two researchers stated above.
[edit] Outlines
- If a joke must be explained, its rating is automatically decreased by three quarters. For example, if one makes a very subtle pun that some people understand, but it must be explained for others, it is a worse joke than it could have been.
