[edit] Traditions

Every four years, the Marching Band applies to perform in the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom parade, and have yet to be rejected.

The band has received 27 consecutive "Division I" ratings at the Michigan Scholastic Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) Festival, the highest possible rating.

Senior students have traditionally "forked" the band director's yards on the night before competitions - a practice where plastic forks are stuck in a lawn, often making designs or giving messages. The band directors have come to expect this and often enjoy the good-hearted messages of thanks on their lawn. The tradition was modified with the Class of 2007 so students only go forking the night before the last competition.

The Class of 2007 also took a different meaning to forking and created an 11-foot tall cement fork which was placed in Mark Greer's lawn. The fork now lies on it's side and serves as a bench for the director's fire pit.
