"His mother is a Newfoundlander, his father is an Indian."

  • How does this make him multiracial? Newfoundlanders are not a race of their own. NorthernThunder 10:09, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
  • It's referring to his Caucasian blood, but directly mentioning the cultural root of his Western ethnicity. --Bentonia School 11:19, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
  • I think he is born in Burlington,Ontario and then his parents got divorced and mom took him and raised him in Newfoundland.
  • As far as I know, Majumder was born in Burlington, Newfoundland, not Burlington, Ontario. A clear citation should be referenced, however. --Bentonia School 11:19, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
  • re : multiracial : the fact that one parent is white and one indian makes him multiracial. also, where was it brought up in the article that he is multiracial. couldn't see it. i think the above comment regarding this is extrememly racist, as it implies that the reader thinks that all newfoundlanders are indian, which is very incorrect.

They are reshowing the "Who Do You Think You Are " episode with Shaun Majumder as we speak. The show has more details and, if someone got a still of when Uncle Roy showed the family tree it goes way way back. Shaun's mom, Marian (nee Bartlett) was born in 1946 and died in 2003. Shaun's father Mani Majumder was educated in Germany, got his heart broken by her, moved to Canada for a job, married Marion, divorced her, came back for her funeral, fell in love with Newfoundland all over again, bought a house there and then got reaquainted with his German girlfriend who moved to Newfoundland with him. Shaun can trace is ancestry in Newfoundland to 1711. Shaun's great grandfather, Rada Ballav Halder, moved the family from East Pakistan (Bangladesh) to India just ahead of the 1947 slaughters.

Someone else can incorporate this into Shaun's bio. Personally, I think there is enough bio to divide his page into Personal and Career. `21:11, 6 April 2008 (UTC)~
