[edit] Other meaning

Shaahin as is the name for a prey bird (falcon), is the name for a part of ancient weighing device (balance), the place of which indicates the relative accuracy of measure, its counterpart in english being pointer or beam or tongue of a balance/scale. However it has been used in metaphors relating to justice and acts of just in persian poetry and prose alike. Though currently lost, the still wide usage of the name in Iran is mostly related to this meaning.
