Shawn Williams (b. April 7, 1975 in Bluffton, Indiana) is a second-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Shawn was awarded his black belt by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend Renzo Gracie at 20 years old, becoming only the fifth American to receive that honor (behind such notables as Ricardo Almeida, Matt Serra, Nick Serra, Rodrigo Gracie, and John Danaher). After teaching in New York City at the prestigious Renzo Gracie Academy for several years, Shawn opened his own school in Los Angeles, California. Despite its young age, Shawn's Academy is widely considered one of the premier schools in the Southern California region.
Shawn's grappling achievements include championship status at notable events such as Grapplers' Quest, North American Grappling Games, Pan American Games of BJJ, and achieving 3rd place at the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship trials, widely regarded as the most prestigious Grappling Tournament in the world, where he also received "Best Fight of Tournament" accolades.
