From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the MTR Corporation Limited proposed to build the Sha Tin-Central Railway Link in March 2008.
[edit] Project Description
There are two sections in the Sha Tin-Central Railway Link, the Tai Wai to Hung Hom section and the cross harbour section. The Tai Wai to Hung Hom section is an extension of the Ma On Shan Line from Tai Wai via Diamond Hill, Kai Tak, To Kwa Wan, Ma Tau Wai, Ho Man Tin to Hung Hom. The cross harbour section will extend from the existing East Rail Line from Hung Hom to Admiraltywith one intermediate station at Exhibition.
Majority of the Sha Tin-Central Railway Link is underground railway.
The cross harbour section will require the existing at-grade East Rail Line tracks at Hung Hom be underground. New tracks will be required from Mong Kok of existing East Rail Line to drop underground connecting the cross harbour section at Hung Hom in order not to affect the existing East Rail Line operation.
