[edit] The Lollipop Summer
During the sweltering summer of 2005, after attending the Big Day Out music festival in Auckland, New Zealand, Josie and Euan decided to form Shart Nouveau.
Drawing inspiration from Le Tigre (band), they set about recording their first single "La La Lollipop". After garnering interest on the popular local radio station, the very popular E.P "The Mile High Club" was recorded. A very limited pressing of 50 discs sold out in days after heavy rotation on the local student radio station. With 'La La Lollipop' becoming a local underground success story. "La La Lollipop" later featured in the annual "Best of Summer Collection" CD.
In early 2006, the band were signed to the independent record label, "Sleepy Creatures Records". In May 2006, Shart Nouveau released their first full length EP "Shart-Tastic".
