Sharada Mandir School is in Miramar Panjim, Goa, India. It has four sections: elementary, junior, middle, and secondary. It has good sport and other facilities. It was established in 1966.
This school also known by the name Sharada Mandir High School was established in 1966. The school was run by a trust under the headmistress Mrs D'Costa and her husband (Dr D'Costa, who passed away in the late 1990's) in charge of the administration.
The school follows the ICSE system of education and in the initial years had a strong flavour of Cambridge syllabus for the higher classes.
The school is known to be the top school in Goa.
In the early years before Goan board adopted the NCERT syllabus the difficulty level difference between this school and others in Goa was significant prompting most students to leave the school by the time they reached 7th Grade.
For many years the higher grades had only one division with only the creme of the batch managing to cope fully with studies. The tough syllabus can be judged from the fact that in Mathematics logarithms and matrices were started in the 8th grade. Julius Caesar, the unabridged version taught in the 9th along the entire human body systems in biology which other schools only would attempt by the time students reached the 12th.
Initially the school would have internal exams till the 8th where Delhi board exams would be run on a trial for Maths and English in preparation for the 10th Final Exams.
Over the years the school has simplified the education system keeping in mind the effect of lower scores due to a higher education system it had which affected the chances of its students in admissions to higher colleges.
Some of the highly respected teachers to have retired from the school after many years of dedicated service are
- Mr Shejwalkar - Administrator and History Teacher
