Shanivar

Shanivar is the Hindi name for Saturday, the sixth (or seventh) day of the week. The name is derived from Shani, the Hindu god manifested in the planet Saturn.
The name Shanivar is remarkable, as is the term Ravivar, for highlighting the similarities between Hindu and Roman mythologies. In Hindu mythology, Shanivar and Ravivar are named after Saturn and the Sun god respectively - meanwhile, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and less obviously all other days names are derived from Roman mythology. One explanation for this similarity is that the practice of naming the seven days after the then known "planets" reaches back to ancient babylon which may have served as a source for both cultures.
