Shanghai International Film Festival

The Shanghai International Film Festival (Chinese: 上海国际电影节), abbreviated SIFF, one of the largest film festivals in East Asia.[1]

The SIFF is one of Asia's only two A-list film festival, the other is Tokyo International Film Festival.[2] The first festival was held from October 7 to 14, 1993, and was held biennially until 2001. In 2003 there was no festival.

It awards several "Golden Cup" Awards ("Jin Jue" or 金爵) for best film, best director, best actor/actress, and other categories, as well as a "Special Jury Award."

The 2008 Shanghai International Film Festival will be held from June 14th-June 22nd and will be chaired by Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai.
