Shakeel Ahmed

Shakeel Ahmed was a police officer for Karnataka State, India. He was born on August 26, 1959. He was the son of Abdul Karim, a retired senior police officer. At the age of 23, he joined the Karnatake police as a probationer. He soon earned fame as a honest and noble officer. In 1989, the brigand Veerappan killed four police officers in Mysore district. The Karnataka police wanted it's officers to fill the vacant posts. Ahmed was the only one to volunteer. Shakeel, during the next three years, killed or captured dozens of Veerappan's aides, including the infamous Gurunathan in February 1992. Shakeel Ahmed was killed by Veerappan and his gang near Meenyam, Mysore on August 14, 1992 along with SP Harikrishna and four others by a gang of over 80.
