"Shadow of the dragon" is a book written by Sherry Garland, with Danny Vo as a protagonist who has a hard time adjusting to American life.
[edit] Overview of the Plot
Danny Vo's family is opening a homecoming party for Sang Le who stayed in Registration Camp in Vietnam for many years. In the party, Sang Le meets a beautiful girl named Hong (whom Danny rescued from the Cobras group at the market) and immediately falls in love while Hong sees Danny, falling in love with him. However, Danny already has his crush, an American girl named Tiffany Marie.
At school, Sang Le is very bad at English and doesn't know to improve. Danny is also struggling with American and Vietnam life, as himself wanting American more while her parents and family put on Vietnam life.
His relationship with Tiffany is going well. But in some days, Sang Le begins to quit school and begins to join Vietnam Gang Club, called Cobras that seem to enjoy poker. But after Ba's holler at Sang Le, he is moved and moves out of the gang.
Also, one day, Danny finally manages to date Tiffany out which turns out to be a total damage at the end. Frank and Brian sees this (who thinks that without Vietnam, so many Americans didn't have to die) and beats up Danny. Later, when they see Sang Lee talking with Tiffany, they beat Sang Le to death too. Danny knows this but since they are his crush' brother, he is troubled. But he decides he should stand up and sacrifice for his family.
