Talk:Serena Slam
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Serena Slam is about Serena Williams. Period. It was an achievement dubbed after she got it. To de-Williams the article makes it far more vague than it should be.
- The Serena Slam is not about Serena Williams (only); neither version of the page claims it is, nor does Grand Slam (tennis). To de-Williams the page is a way to preserve a page that would otherwise appear to be fanwriting and somewhat inapproprate for Wikipedia. As an aside: As can be read on the current version of the page, the achievement was not dubbed after she got it, but rather after she had gained her third title. Aliter 14:03, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
The Serena Slam article should be about Serena, with perhaps mention of others. Time in the article should be alotted with the vast majority going to Ms. Williams, with mention of her forerunners. benthorot
The way it is now, I would suggest merging it with the article about Serena Williams. Seriously, who is going to search for 'Serena Slam' without trying to find it on the page about Serena Williams first? Stefan Kruithof 11:36, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
This article is ridiculous and not encyclopedic. To have an article entitled "Serena Slam" for winning four consecutive Grand Slam singles titles just because Serena Williams playfully tagged the achievement with that name is absurd. This article is nothing more than a fan page for Williams. The Grand Slam article already discusses winning four consecutive Grand Slam singles titles (but not in the same calendar year) in an encyclopedic manner without overly linking the achievement to a particular player. That's good enough. Tennis expert (talk) 21:35, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
