SIM-IM is a free software multiprotocol instant messaging application, which supports serverless and serverbased messenger protocols. Based on the Qt library (with optional KDE support) it is available for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. SIM-ICQ was discontinued for a time because its founder Vladimir Shutoff, a Russian programmer, left the project. Some time later a new development group was formed and the project is now reborn with the name SIM-IM: Version 0.9.4.1 of the software was released on October 21, 2006. Besides the stable branch, there is also a testing branch, currently in version 0.9.5, updated almost every day. Sources can be obtained via Subversion.
SIM supports the following protocols:
- Oscar - for ICQ and AIM support
- Jabber
- LiveJournal
- .NET Messenger Service (also known as MSN)
- Yahoo!
- Retroshare IM serverless im protocol (beta in creation)
