I come from a small town Sendurai, near Madurai, Southern India. I graduated from Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) with Masters in Biology. While I was at MKU, in collaboration with Dr. Pradheepkumar identified an anti-cancer principle from a medicinal plant under the guidance of Prof. G. Shanmugam.
After completing my masters, I went to the Department of Biochemistry, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and completed doctoral degree under the Guidance of Prof. G. Padmanabhan. I graduated from IISc in 2000, and then did a postdoctoral research with Prof. Robert A. Weinbergat the Whitehead Institute, an affiliate institute of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Pradheepkumar and I started the Sakthi Foundation, a non-profit social service organization that aims at serving people suffering from cancer and other ailments. We also started a "Sakthi Montessori school" for poor children in India. Additional information about me can be found in my personnel website Mani.
