Talk:Senecio eboracensis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Is this parent species correctly identified?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senecio does not list a type species "senecio" in the Senecio" genus.
The sentence "S. vulgaris is native to Britain, while S. senecio was introduced from Sicily in the early 1700s;[1]; therefore, S. eboracensis has speciated from those two species within the last 300 years." from the article would imply that there is such a species, although the preceding text claims "This plant is a hybrid species whose parents are Oxford ragwort (S. squalidus) and common groundsel (S. vulgaris)."
I suspect that the reference to "S. senecio" is in error and should read "S. squalidus."
