Senile Osteoporosis, formerly known as osteoporosis type II, senile osteoporosis has been recently recognized as a geriatric syndrome with a particular pathohysiology.

A clinician scientist at the University of Sydney, Dr. Gustavo Duque, has dedicated his research to the elucidation of the mechanisms involved in senile osteoporosis.
