Is there any discussion somewhere about the possibility of actually using this on Wikipedia? I could imagine a lot of people would want (but since it isn't here there are presumably good reasons not to)... GalaxiaGuy 11:53, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

I would absolutely love to see it used on Wikipedia... --Romanski 18:09, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your support. One concern is the performance hit from having maybe 50 million facts in English Wikipedia in database tables. Being able to query for, e.g. painters born between 1920 and 1950 who live in France is very powerful but would tax the system! -- Skierpage 07:11, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

A question : Berlin is the capital of Germany with some interruptions. How to describe this fact ? Do we stay at present time ? Gwalarn 18:03, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

"is a" describes the current state. I suppose you could add other relationships to other cities, e.g. "Bonn", "was a capital of" "West Germany" "1949-1990". --Romanski 18:09, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] This article was moved, once before, to Wikipedia namespace

See Wikipedia talk:Semantic MediaWiki. Is this (new) article in the wrong place? -- John Broughton (♫♫) 22:54, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Why doesn't this meet Wikipedia's notability standards? There is a great deal written about Semantic MediaWiki and it is evovling rapidly and establishing itself as a common knowledgebase application. If someone were to add in the relevant external references would it then meet the so called 'notability standards'?steven 14:37, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
  • I think it probably doesn't meet our notability standards so it would be more appropriate in the Wikipedia namespace. — brighterorange (talk) 23:48, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Policy on contributions of project affiliates

I would like to expand on this article since I am kind of knowledgable about it -- being a co-author of Semantic MediaWiki. But I think that it is frowned upon for contributors to work on articles about subjects that are so closely tied to themselves? I naturally cannot discuss the notability of this subject, being slightly biased, but I could add some external references and comparisions to other semantic wikis. I know, it's be bold, but I also like to play by the rules :) --denny vrandečić 03:08, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Adding references is the best way to establish notability. 71.243.150.147 06:36, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
