[edit] Faculty
- 'Headmaster'
- Paul Domingue-A often reclusive man who likes to sulk in the shadows of his office. I have seen this man smoke hash and this is no joke, 1980's in Jamaica.
- 'English'
- John Griffiths (Griffy) holds in Bachelor of the Arts in English from Oxford and has worked at VVS for... well... a very long time. He is old, prone to alcohol consumption, extraordinarily knowledgeable about the English language, and a lover of chess. Somewhat ill-tempered, he is nevertheless endeared by his students. Before becoming a teacher he worked on Wall Street as a real estate analyst and portfolio manager, as well as an analyst for the British Diplomatic Service. He has published six novels.
- Jennifer Bean
- Paul Stein
- 'History'
- Paul Hanson Has a M.A. in History from the University of Montana. He teaches history and anthropology, was previously a kick-boxer (until debilited by a neck injury which nearly paralyzed him), and is generally sarcastic (adding greatly to the engaging quality of his courses). Claims to dislike Wikipedia for its tendency to be abused as source material in essays he assigns.
- Matt Moran teaches American History, for both regular and E.S.L. students. By his own word he was a little crazy in college, and I believe he has a few tattoos. His courses rely heavily on notes, and in most cases he allows them to be used on tests; in 2005 his History class was notorious for its ponderous trek through the course material, taking most of the year to complete the first century of United States history.
- 'Language'
- Michael Kerry teaches French and is a graduate of Harvard University. He has a B.A. in French and Russian, an M.A. in French, and an MEd in International Education. Very proactive when it came to developing the resources of the Language Department, specifically in regards to his French Class, Michael has however earn enmity from the students as being a stickler for the rules, even going far out of his way to apprehend perpetrators (the common offense being smoking cigarettes).
- Sandra Conway
- Dan Millis
- 'Math & Science'
- Rebekah Crisp possesses both a M.S. in Mathematics and a Masters in teaching Mathematics. She is apparently fond of butterflies, and is an amateur poet. She came to VVS after teaching high-school for thirteen years.
- Dan Dudley has a B.S. in Secondary Education (Mathematics presumably), and teaches a variety of things besides Calculus. He spent 2 years in the Peace Corp. after playing golf in the army, and an additional three years teaching a private school in Malawi where he met his wife. He is white, portly, balding, and given to silly dancing when properly goaded.
- Jim Richards has a Ph.D in Zoology from U.C. Berkeley and teaches Physics. Tall and massive, old now but a previous olympic rower (or something like that), Jim like to crush people's digits with his supposedly very strong left hand. His physics class is said to be engaging, and he focuses mostly on projects (applied physics) which have students doing a lot of construction and critical thinking.
