This article should be properly renamed. What does the "II" stand for? If it's "second" it should be "second", not "II". And it should be "of" rather than "in". /The Phoenix 19:40, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
The article is wrong in saying that the Ottoman Constitution left the Sultan with little or no power. Provisions existed in the Constitution to ensure that the Sultan had ultimate executive power; all ministers answered to him, and no process existed to hold him accountable for anything. All he had to do is take an oath to respect the Constitution and be loyal to the nation (and this oath was an addition in 1909 rather than being in the original 1876 document).
