Secret Samadhi is Live's follow-up to their multi-platinum Throwing Copper release. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 when it was released on February 18, 1997, and housed the hits "Lakini's Juice," "Rattlesnake," "Turn My Head" and "Freaks."
There is some speculation as to whether Secret Samadhi, and the single "Rattlesnake" in particular is directly influenced by Stephen King's 1996 horror novel, Desperation.[citation needed]
