[edit] Mashreq definition

Unfortunately, your map Image:Mashriq.jpg doesn't seem to accurately reflect the most common and widespread definition of the word Mashreq. Mashreq should be a superset of Bilad-ush-Sham, but in your definition, it somehow isn't. AnonMoos 14:57, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Dude, "Mashriq" can vaguely mean "eastern place" in the Arabic language, but the most common definition of "the Masriq" as an English-language word does not commonly include the UAE. I wonder why you suddenly changed your mind on this matter after six months? AnonMoos 13:44, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Dude, the definitions have not always been the same over time. In the middle ages, Cyrenaica (eastern Libya) was sometimes considered part of the Mashriq, so that the Maghrib was considered to begin in Tripolitania (western Libya), but hardly anybody uses that definition today. It's possible that some people at some time have considered al-Hasa (الأحساء) and the current UAE as part of the Mahriq -- but that's not the way the word is commonly used in English today, and you need to cite a little beter authority than an old map in an unnamed and unreferenced History of the Arabs, or the use of the word Mashriqi in a few business names in the UAE (where it may mean little more than "Eastern" or "Oriental") before you go against the more usual meaning of the word in English. [edit] Image license problem

I have tagged all of these images as having no licenses because you applied the incorrect license to them.

  • Image:Hassankamelsabbah.jpg
  • Image:Hassankamel.png
  • Image:Hassankamel.jpg
  • Image:Arabmuseum.jpg

The first three also all appear to be the same image. All of these are copyrightable images, not uncopyrightable as you listed them. If the source of the image is known, a fair use rationale might be possible - however probably not for the second. (I live in Dearborn however and can get a better picture than that one.) If the images are not correctly licensed they will soon be deleted. Rmhermen 01:27, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hassan Kamel Al-Sabbah

I noticed you started the article Hassan Kamel Al-Sabbah. I wanted to bring a few issues to your attention. First, there was a question in Wikipedia:Reference desk/Science#Father of the Solar Cell where a reader was confused because the Hassan Kamel Al-Sabbah article describes him as the father of the solar cell, but the Solar cell article does not mention him.

Also, the article does not give the sources for the information in the article. Articles should not be in Wikipedia unless the information in them can be verified by looking in reliable publications (WP:RS). I have added the unreferenced template to the article to indicate that references should be added.

Finally, the article states that this engineer was a Fellow of the IEEE, but he died in 1935 and the IEEE was not formed until 1963. Perhaps he was a member of the AIEE or the IRE, which merged to become the IEEE. I mention this error on the article's talk page.

If you know of published sources for some or all of the information, please let us know. I would be happy to help put the references in the right format if you are not familiar with how to do that. --Gerry Ashton 21:39, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Since no sources have been provided, I have nominated this article for deletion. --Gerry Ashton 18:59, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello, Seblini. Concerning your contribution, Love Knots, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material without the permission of the author. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.indobase.com/holidays/valentines-day/valentine-day-symbols/valentine-love-knots.html. As a copyright violation, Love Knots appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Love Knots has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. For text material, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source, provided that it is credible.

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Arabian_stallion.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Arabian_stallion.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:28, 16 February 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 23:28, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
