The middle finger gesture is a Western obscenity. It's not an obscenity in Japan, where yubimoji is used. So, why should they care that it looks obscene to Americans anymore than Deaf Americans care that the sign for "t" is obscene in Japan? That particular yubimoji is adapted from the sign for "back" (as in spine), which is pronounced se in Japanese. It's quite a logical sign for that meaning. Nik42 (talk) 05:23, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
