Scrying pool

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Scrying pool is a pool of water, as small as a bowl, or as large as any other body of water, which operates, in fiction, in a manner similar to a crystal ball. By looking into the scrying pool, one may see events from the past, present or future.

One use of this device occurs in one of the Harry Potter films, where Harry looks into a scrying pool about the size of a small fish bowl, and sees an event consisting of a prisoner trying to receive a pardon, implicating Barty Crouch, Jr., the son of one of the leaders of the magic government as being a class of criminal called a death eater.
