Scottish Tartans Authority

The Scottish Tartans Authority (STA), based in Crieff, was formed in 1996 by Scotland's leading weavers, scholars,tartan retailers and aficionados to compile and maintain the International Tartan Index. The STA records and documents historical tartans, provides informational resources, and a tartan registry.
The STA is formally allied with the International Association of Tartan Studies (IATS) also known as the Tartan Educational and Cultural Association (TECA).
