Scot Brown

Scot Brown is Associate Professor of History at the University of California, Los Angeles. His writings on African American resistance, social movements, and cultural nationalism have appeared in the Black Scholar, American National Biography, Journal of Black Studies, Journal of Negro History and Contributions in Black Studies.

Brown is a bass guitarist and, since 2001, a professor of history and African-American studies. His recent book, Fighting for US, brings the story of the US Organization, a California-based black nationalist group, and black cultural nationalism, alive to younger generations. Still active, US runs the African American Cultural Center in South Los Angeles.
