Do we want to have the same entries in the main category:Scotland page as those appearing under the different subcategories? I just feel the main page might get a bit crowded. Berek 13:07, 8 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Tried to help trim some down! Good luck... but it's back to work and vacation for me. I'll check back in another week. Lyellin 11:59, Aug 11, 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for your help, Lyellin. Hope we can work on this again soon. Berek 19:32, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)

This is tricky: in some ways I like the idea of all pages appearing in the overall category, with the subcats allowing a filtering down: ideally this would be a (future software) "view everything in all subcategories" option. Given The aim that articles can be hidden in subcategories unless wanted, some pages can appeal to differing interests. Prehistoric sites sort of fit into History of Scotland, but this could get cluttered. A new Prehistoric Scotland category would be an option, but if this is a sub-sub-category of History they could also appear in a Things to visit in Scotland category, or perhaps better something that covers Historic and prehistoric sites and buildings. There's already castles, so maybe more subcategories of Scotland would work well. Another interest is steamers: some pages are clearly history, some are also modern visitor attractions. Any ideas or comments? - dave souza 22:22, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments, Dave. Items that appear in two subcategories can always be listed under both - I agree that steamboats, and perhaps prehistoric sites/Scotland might be good, and we could have a category for tourist attractions as well, if you like. My motto when approaching this has been the old Wiki faithful "Be bold in your editing"! Any other thoughts that occur to you would be very welcome. Berek 11:24, 12 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Removed category Liberal democracies

Guys guys, I removed the category liberal democracies from the category list of this category. I ultimately landed here because the National Youth Choir of Scotland was listed in the liberal democricies catagory page, as somebody had already noticed. I think the same should go for other categories too here, otherwise there will be anomalous results. Amit@Talk 16:11, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
