The couple had three children together, the first one being Christopher Daniel, who was born disabled due to alleged medical mistakes made during the birth, which caused Nena to go into cardiac arrest.

I do not have Nena's book, Willst du mit mir gehn, in front of me. What I remember is that Nena came close to bleeding to death after the birth, and that when she regained consciousness, at first she could not move.
