Schuh are a well established high street and online shoe retailer with a large network of stores across the UK and ROI. The original Schuh store was opened back in 1981 in the North Bridge Arcade, Edinburgh and over the past 25 years the company has grown to include over 70 stores throughout Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland. Schuh’s head quarters are still located in Scotland with the head office and main distribution centre situated in Livingston just outside Edinburgh.

Schuh has remained a private company throughout its existence and the current board of directors counts the original founders as members. Although the company has changed shape over the years, they have managed to retain the same alternative, querky style and essence of individuality that fuelled the store’s growth in the beginning and has continued to set them apart from retailers in the market place today.

Schuh stock a wide variety of high profile established brands such as Nike, Adidas, Babycham, Paul Smith and Caterpillar as well as the more unusual Rocket Dog,Irregular Choice,Red or Dead, Evisu, Harlot and Bronx. These are in addition to Schuh’s own range of men’s and women’s shoes, which are designed by an in house creative team.

Schuh extended their high street offering to the internet in 2003 with the online shoe store www.schuh.co.uk, which has been recognised by The Retail Week Awards as combining the ease of shopping online with improvements in functionality to provide better service to users.

Schuh is widely recognised as one of the most innovative independent footwear retailers in the UK having received awards ranging from Scottish Business Awards 2005 - Best Private Company in Scotland to ‘Best For Boots’ in the Now Shopping Awards. The online store www.schuh.co.uk has recently been short listed for the award of Online Retailer of the Year in the Retail Week Awards 2007 due to take place in March 2007.
