[edit] Summary

Schimmel gerbils are very common in parts of Alaska, but are quite rare in other parts of the world. They begin life with bright orange fur which slowly turns white over the course of their lives. Typically, their last patches of orange fur can be found on their heads and tails. Schimmel gerbils are one of the few types of gerbils that can have either black or red eyes.
