User:SauliH/SA Town Lookup page
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
At the pages listed above, you will find 'red' links to placename articles, with external links to various sites. Also, you will find the markup text for a new article, which serves as a template for the very shell of an article. If you wish to start a new article copy the text, and click on the RED link, and paste the text into the edit window. In another window you can reopen the link page, and click on each external link, to source the information you need as well as search for more information to fill out your article.
- Please do not just create an article because a red link is there. Ascertain the need for the article first (good place to check is at List of postcodes in South Australia). If it appears in that list, go ahead and write the article. Otherwise, make sure that the placename is not historical, of small significance, missspelt :-), or part of a larger article.
When you have created the article, make sure it is appropriately linked from the name without ", South Australia" appended. Look at ScottDavis plain town names page to find the article by that name. If the link there is red, fill it with "#REDIRECT [[town, South Australia]]". If it is blue, there is already an article at that name. If it is a disambiguation page, ensure your new article is listed. If it is a redirect, turn it into a disambiguation page with the original and your new article. If it already has {{otheruses}} at the top directing readers to a disambig page, go there and make sure your new article is listed. Otherwise add either {{tl|otheruses} and create a disambig page, or write similar text directing straight to your new article. Once one of these has been done, you may remove the blue link from the plain names page.
If blue links are listed, with markup text accompanying it, feel free to remove the markup text. If you do this, do not remove the placename itself or the external links, as others may wish to use these links as a means to doing further additions to the article.
