In Javanese culture, the first day (starting at twilight the previous day) of the calendar is auspicious. Many go to special places - such as Javanese sacred places. SatuSuro is the first day of the year in the javanese calendar. Older people will not go out on a trip on that day. The evening before this day is special at special places.
