[edit] Career
Sash! had a string of hits in the UK in 1997-1998 with "Encore Une Fois", "Ecuador", "Stay" and "Mysterious Times", all of which peaked at #2 in the UK Singles Chart. They hold the record for having the most #2 UK singles (a total of five), without ever reaching #1. They are still active today, but with less success. Their most recent album was never released in the United Kingdom.
Sash! have always been acclaimed for their unique ability to create popular dance hits incorporating the music style and language of a particular ethnic group. This can be seen by simply examining the group's discography. "Stay", "Mysterious Times" and "Just Around The Hill" were performed in English, "Encore une Fois" in French, "Adelante", "Luna Llena" and "Ecuador" in Spanish, "La Primavera" in Italian, "The Trip" in Finnish, "Together Again" in Danish and "Ganbareh!" in Japanese.
Dance group Faithless have apparently expressed their displeasure[1] with the fact that elements of their song "Insomnia" were apparently used by Sash! for "Encore Une Fois".
[edit] Other projects
Besides Sash!, the trio have also produced tracks for some of their collaborators, including Sabine Ohmes in the project Encore!, and Peter Faulhammer as Martillo Vago (a Spanish transliteration of Faulhammer's last name). Lappessen is also a member of project Careca, while Kappmeier and Lüdke work as the production duo Tokapi, producing tracks for other projects such as Lacara, Poetry 'N' Motion and Magnificent 4 (alongside Bossi of Cosmic Gate and Jaspa Jones of Blank & Jones). Tokapi also work under the alias Ricardo de Tornato. Sash! is also confirmed to be producing Paris Hilton's new single.
