[edit] Commercial Appearances

Is it worth mentioning in the article Sara's appearances in both TV and radio commercials for Coca-Cola? I believe the commercials aired in 2004, but I'm not 100% sure; the only reason I even remember this at all is because I'm related to her. Because of that, I think this falls in the "original research" category, but is it even a big enough deal to put in even with cited sources? Last paragraph.

If someone could sufficiently explain what exactly, does the amount of controversy generated by a divorce--or any other personal event have to do with whatever political party one happens to support?

The notation that ought to link to some kind of source links to the bottom of the page--a constant problem with wikipedia I realize, but it screams POV.

Sara Evans was on Fox News on 12 October 2005, Wednesday. They showed one of her recent videos and Sara was given a short interview by Hannity and Colmes. It was good.

Ok, so which single is coming out? I heard on CMT that Coalmine was the next single and I have yet to hear it on the radio, but in the past couple of weeks, I've heard "Missing Missouri" a dozen times and I've yet to hear "Coalmine". Also, I've heard Coalmine on the net and I have definately not heard it on the radio.

That doesn't make it a single. St. Louis country radio has been playing it for a while now. That said, I have heard that it might be the next single. Either that or "New Hometown." We can leave it as it is until anything is confirmed. Camcallister 21:59, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Ok, then. But I have seen other singer pages with soon to be singles listed, the Faith Hill page has one more listed after "Sunshine & Summertime" as do the LeAnn Rimes and Tim McGraw pages. "Stealing Kisses" is listed on Faith Hill's page because she confirmed that it would be a single with a music video at the CMT Video Music Awards. LeAnn Rimes released "Strong" in Germany and has confirmed to be releasing "Everybody's Someone" in October in the UK and Ireland. The difference is that this hasn't been confirmed yet. Radio stations will play songs that haven't been released as singles especially if they are novelty songs in the area, such as "Missing Missouri" in Missouri. Camcallister 14:35, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Ok, but doesn't the fact that "Coalmine" was NOT released for around here (for me that is) signify in some way that they have switched those 2 songs around? I'm assuming if and when "Missing Missouri" becomes a national single as opposed to a regional one for the time being that we will get "Coalmine" released. Yeah, I know there is pretty much no fact in this but wouldn't it make sence? "Coalmine" was released there. It was released everywhere. It was the official third single from the album. Your radio station just didn't pick it up. I don't think mine did either. "Missing Missouri" on the other hand, was not even released to radio. Your radio station just started playing it from the CD. This happens frequently, but it doesn't mean it was a single. Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" hasn't been released as a single yet, but it's garnered enough airplay to chart on the Billboard Country chart for 17 or 18 weeks now. Sorry, but I missed that message you posted on my watchlist and just decided to check today. Ok, whatever. I believe you. What was wrong with "Coalmine" that it was stated on this page that it didn't do good? I liked it. Or is it just because of that coalmine accident in West Virginia a few months before?

Two reasons most frequently cited are: 1) Listeners thought it was too bluegrass (Go figure) and 2) they felt it was too sexual since it was basically about a wife waiting naked for her husband to hurry up and get home so they could have sex by the light on his miner's helmet. Ok, I hope this doesn't become a huge issue but I changed the photo back to the old one.

This one just doesn't seem right to me http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Sara_Evans_13.jpg

So I changed it back to the older one. The reason being is that she has curly hair in that pic and she normally doesn't so I think it's better to stick with a current/more recognizable one.

If anyone wants to put the other one back, can they give a reason why that one is better?

I have visited the town where Sara was born and raised. It is located approximately 1.5 hours from my house. I am also a country music fan and would be interested in helping out with this article. --Genius00345 01:10, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Do you mean boonville like the article says or new franklin? I used to work with her in Columbia Mo before she became famous and seem to remember she was from New Franklin.Once she asked if anyone wanted to go out to the farm to pick tobacco for extra money and I think the farm was in New franklin. Were did the boonville info come from?

Doesn't she have any promo photos or ANYTHING we can use? What about an album cover? This is getting out of hand, every week, 1 or 2 people are either trying to get the image codes right to post one or they post one that's unsourced.

Anyone know of any pics that we can actually use?

Then what do you suggest? What is her problem? Why not give a publicity photo or 2? I have never seen another artist who refuses to do it.

Why can't we just say to hell with copyright info because of the need for a pic, it's not like there are pics that are available out there and the fact that she's notable and that too many anonymous users are trying to add one signifies that one's needed.

We can't say to hell with copyright info because that opens Wikipedia up to being sued. We certainly can use a promotional image, though, with the right rationale. --Yamla 18:30, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

I've already tried adding that pic and it was deleted and this one will be as well. And nobody answered so I'll ask again, why does she NOT have any publicity photos??

I have a friend who attended dozens of Sara Evans shows and I've just emailed him to ask if he'd make a few of his pics available here for the wikipedia article. I suspect he won't have a problem with that. --Renrenren 03:44, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure that would be ok, one can use pics they've taken themselves and release them to the public domain but you can't use pics already posted on other sites because of copyright issues.

  • Actually, that's still up in the air. Right now, "Missing Missouri" is charting only because a couple stations are playing it as an album cut (most likely stations in Missouri). There's still the possibility that the album cut play could start to snowball -- in other words, if more stations start to play it enough, it could end up getting released as a single. This is exactly what happened with "Beer For My Horses" by Toby Keith and Willie Nelson. It first charted as an album cut while Toby's "Rock You Baby" was climbing the charts, but eventually, "Beer" was getting so much airplay as an album cut that his label went ahead and released it (and as a result, "Rock You Baby" began a freefall from its #13 peak). I don't think that "You'll Always Be My Baby" is going to freefall, but given "Missing Missouri"'s success as an album cut so far, it could be the follow-up. I think that the singles should be all in one list on the main page, instead of her Top 25 hits being on one page and her lower hits being on the Discography page. It's just easier that way -- plus, just about every other artist page on Wikipedia is set up that way. TenPoundHammer 02:47, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

  • I have just gone back and taken all of her singles off the Discography page, and moved them to the main page. As I stated above, just about every artist on Wikipedia has all of their singles listed on the main page, so for the sake of consistency, I have placed all of Sara's singles to date on her page. This also allows others to view how each single has done on the charts (for instance, "Coalmine", mentioned above). Please, nobody revert this change. Yes, I realize that she's had several singles, but it's not the longest of lists - compare it to, say, Garth Brooks' list of singles. TenPoundHammer 02:56, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Artists post stuff on their fan club sites all the time. That information is not meant to be for the members only. It gets out and published all over. Wikipedia is no different. There is nothing wrong in my opinion with the info that was posted. My only concern would be if it belongs in an encyclopeadic context. --Renrenren 18:06, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, it is only for fan club members - Otherwise, why isn't it posted in the free area of her site then? THat is your opinion and you are entitled to it. Unfortunately, stuff that happens in fanclubs does not STAY in fanclubs. Info gets released all the time, even if it is on an unofficial basis. Fanclubs are mostly there for merchandise and ticket sales and are not always used by artists to communicate with their fans. I have included facts from the latest news story that cited Sara Evans as having almost a dozen affairs including Richard Marx, Kenny Chesney, Tony Dovolani, and the members of the rock group Three Doors Down. This edit is in no way a defamation of character to Evans; it was just a newsworthy fact that needed to be added to the article. [edit] Attempt at major overhaul

I'm new to the talk page. Until today, I didn't know there was one!

I wanted to let everyone know that I have spent this entire summer working on a complete revision of this article. I'd like to go into all my reasons for doing it, but it'd take too long. I finished the project today, and this was my first time coming back to the page since about the second week in May.

It scares me a little that there are so many flags on the current article, especially the one about the "2005-present" section being too long (when I know it's shorter than it was a few months ago!). Wait till they see my "2000-2004" section -- all 13 paragraphs! (Heck, the articles on game shows like Pyramid and Family Feud have an astounding amount of detail. Three paragraphs on changes in the color of the set in the 1970's? Where are the flags on that?)

I do understand the flag about improving the quality; not to brag, but that would be accomplished for sure! That was my main objective. I wrote my revision in the style of a newspaper or magazine story, so overall, it would be about 8-10 times longer than it is now, and yes, there would be verifiability issues with some statements. Or is the length not really an issue so long as things are broken down into more sections, maybe?

I guess what I'm asking is, now that I've done all this writing, what do I do with it? I need to share it with someone!

The idea is not to completely rewrite an article but to improve upon it. Take some of what you've written and start putting it in one section at a time... allow some time for people to read over it and to improve upon it as well. This is a collaborative effort. The number one problem is the scattered incorrect manner that sources were cited in this article. I'm going to go through the article and fix them appropriately. There are many facts within this article that still need to be cited, and I hope that others will take part to fix that problem. Some of the linked sources do not exist on the net anymore, and other sources should be sought out to support the text in the article. There is a great deal of grammar checking that needs to be done as well. I think that the discography should be included in the article. I organized the biography, adding and moving sentences and putting them into appropriately-made paragraphs, so the article is more organized. For the controversy and personal section, I got rid of the bullets, so it didn't look like a trivia section, and put it into paragraphs, so it is more organized. I removed my grammatical mistakes. I got rid of the tag on top of the page, being I think I organized the biography appropriately, and also got rid of the tag about the references, being there are 16 references there, that should be plenty for this sized article. - Dottiewest1fan 21:43, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
