Saree Makdisi (b. 1964) is an American Professor of English Literature at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Makdisi is the author of several books on British Romanticism, which is his area of expertise, and he writes on contemporary Arab politics and culture. Makdisi comes from a lineage that is well-known in academia. He is the grandson of Anis K. Makdisi (1885-1977), who was a renowned professor of Arabic at the American University of Beirut (AUB), and the nephew of the late Edward Said.
