Saints Sarbel and Barbe, or Sarbelius and Barbea, (died 101 A.D.) are early second century Christian martyrs venerated by the Roman Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox Church. Sarbel was a high priest at Edessa in Mesopotamia; Barbe was his sister. They were tortured and killed for converting to Christianity under the Roman emperor Trajan. Their feast day is January 29.[1]
