Description

Sarah Althea Hill (1832-1937). Mistress of William Sharon who sued him in 1883 for support under the terms of what she claimed was a marriage contract. While the case was being fought in court, Sharon married her attorney, David S. Terry, who was shot and killed in a battle with the bodyguard of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Field. Sharon's lawsuit was unsuccessful and she spent 45 years in an insane asylum.
