Sapna, in Hindi, means "dream". The magazine brings light on South Asian American issues, talent, self-help information, and love advice.
In 2003, South Asian American culture was at its infancy in the United States. Sapna Magazine's objective was to create a platform for expression and development of issues and lifestyle for the South Asian American culture. It was conceptualized in Pittsburgh, PA by Natasha Khan. The founding team extended to include, Saira Doja, Mariam Kamal, Vaishali Rao, and Katy Wright.

In 2004 the first edition of Sapna Magazine was released to the public and the magazine was incorporated under Sapna Media LLC. In 2005, Sapna Magazine changed its home base to Washington, DC.

Sapna covers a wide array of topics from Beauty,Fashion,Love, Lifestyle, Career, and Culture. With articles ranging from the Love guru, to arranged marriages, to Indian beauty treatments, to insider celebrity interviews.
