The Sangguniang Bayan is the legislature of municipal governments in the Philippines. It passes ordinances and resolutions for the effective administration of the municipality. Its powers are defined by the Local Government Code of 1991.
[edit] Composition
With the exception of Pateros in Metro Manila, all municipalities in the Philippines are composed of 8 regular members elected at-large and ex-officio members.[1] Sanggunian members in Pateros are elected by districts. Each of its district elects 6 members.[2]
