The Sandy/Salt Lake Line is a line in the TRAX light rail system in the Salt Lake City, Utah area, operated by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA). It is the first line in the TRAX system; the line opened from downtown Salt Lake City, going through South Salt Lake, Murray, and Midvale en route to Sandy on December 4, 1999, opening one year ahead of schedule after two years of construction.

An alternate name used for the Sandy/Salt Lake line is the North/South Line. On the official TRAX route map, the UTA shows the line in blue; however, it is not called the "Blue Line".

[edit] Description of route

The route starts at the Salt Lake Intermodal Hub, allowing connections to Greyhound, Amtrak, UTA buses, and FrontRunner. It proceeds north on 600 West, turns east on 200 South, turns north on 400 West, and finally turns east on South Temple, ending the 2008 extension, where it meets the Arena station. From there, it turns right at Main Street, right at 700 South, and left at 200 West, which it follows to the Union Pacific corridor. It travels south in the UP corridor to 10000 South in Sandy. The whole route, from the EnergySolutions Arena to the Sandy Civic Center, is 17.3 miles (27.8 km).

Originally, the route opened with 16 stations, but the 900 South station opened in 2005 as an infill and a new station in Sandy at 9400 South was built to serve the South Towne Exposition Center.

On 16 April 2008^[1], three new stations opened, extending the line to the Salt Lake Intermodal Hub and partially circumnavigating the Gateway District.
