Sandstrand, Troms

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sandstrand is a village situated in the middle of the municipality of Skånland, Norway.

The village blossomed economically in the late seventies and early eighties. In the nineties, most businesses had to close down due to competition from nearby cities and towns. From being a thriving center for all sorts of activity, Sandstrand has arguably dwindled somewhat into rural passivity during recent years. As of now, many inhabitants commute to areas where employment is easier to find.

Sometimes in the summer, Sandstrand hosts the Åsesletta Kjærlighetsfestival (Åsesletta Love Festival).

The I.L. Santor sports club has its base in Sandstrand, though their football grounds, Rensåhøgda, is situated in nearby Renså.
