Sanders Creek

Sanders Creek is a small waterway located in Lamar County, Texas, United States. It is also a tributary of the Red River. It is the primary inflow of Pat Mayse lake. It contains several species of catfish and gar, largemouth bass, pickerel and various other local species of freshwater fish. It is also the primary outflow (locally termed spillway) of Pat Mayse lake. The outflow section of the creek contains species of fish such as gar, buffalo, catfish, striped bass which make their way to this point via the Red River, and several other species of local freshwater fish. The reason the inflow and lake do not contain striped bass (a migratory river/saltwater species) is due to the fact that the outflow is constructed such that it is not traversable by fish. In other words, fish cannot migrate into the lake via the outflow (although they may be sucked out of the lake).
