San Marcos is a city in the province of Carazo in Nicaragua. The Ave Maria University Latin American Campus, an unaccredited branch of Ave Maria University (headquartered in Naples, Florida, USA) is located in San Marcos. It has a population around 30,600 people. It is located at 35 minutes from the caital city of Managua. San Marcos is known for been the place who gave birth to Anastacio Somoza Garcia. San Marcos' Catholic Church in the middle of town square is one of the most impressive colonial building in town. Msgnor. Francisco Campos is the one responsible for its restoration and preservation. San Marcos is surronded by nice coffee plations, and wonderful ornamental gardens.
